AJ Grant Building
Hail Event Customer Claim Process

 AJ Grant Assessing Team

AJ Grant Building has a team of committed and professional Assessors, right across Australia. When the unexpected happens, we are there, supporting our customers and entire local communities following catastrophic, flood events.

Assessing Your Home

Our bookings teams have scheduled a time for our Assessor to either attend your property or conduct a video-assessment to view the damages, including the preparation of a detailed scope of works outlining the required works for your insurance company to review.

Assessment Report

Our assessors have submitted our report to your insurance company for review.  This timeframe may be impacted where there is a requirement for a certified specialist trade or an increase in claims due to this catastrophe.

In some instances, AJ Grant Building has the authority to approve your repairs and progress your claim to our dedicated repair team.  Your claim may be above our authority to proceed limit if your claim is more complex and the damages are significant.

There may be a delay in some instances, if this is the case, we will expedite your claim with your insurance company and update you when we have submitted our documentation.

Specialist Trades

Depending on the extent and type of property damage, we may engage specialist trades to also attend your property.
These could include;

Qualified roofing trade who can safely access your roof to determine the point of water ingress and complete a full review of your roof.

Certified Electrician to determine if your electrical fittings and fixtures have been affected and advise on whether the electrics to your property are safe to use.

Specialised Engineer may be engaged if the structure of your property has been compromised. They will create a detailed engineering scope and repair methodologies.

If your insurance company engages AJ Grant Restorations, our professional restorations team will be appointed to remove and document damaged contents, complete property sanitisation, mould remediation, remove building debris and damaged internal components.

What are the next steps?

YOU ARE HERE → STEP 4

Our friendly bookings team have arranged, or will be arranging shortly, a suitable time for one of our experienced Assessors to assess and report on the damages to your property.

For damaged contents items or signs of mould, please contact AJ Grant Building on 1300 254 276 or email reception@ajgrantgroup.com.au, so we can arrange for one of our local restoration technicians to attend site to complete an assessment.

For contents items that have been affected you will receive a copy of your non restorable inventory list and we will request replacement costs to ensure we have the correct amount to replace these items.  If new carpet is required, AJ Grant Restorations may organise a quote for replacement or alternatively your insurer will arrange this directly.

STEP 5

Your insurance provider will review the assessment report and scope of works submitted by AJ Grant Building and advise if we can proceed with the repairs.

Upon approval of your repairs, AJ Grant Building will issue you with a copy of the authorised scope of works, domestic building contract (if required) and details on how you can pay your policy excess.  Any maintenance works identified at time of assessment, will need to be completed prior to the insurance repairs commencing.  AJ Grant Building will contact you to discuss your options.

Building Contracts | Home Owner Warranty Insurance (HOW)

We will provide you with a copy of the scope of works, describing the repairs authorised by your insurance company to take place at your property.

Please review, sign and return to AJ Grant Building.

Depending on the State or Territory you reside, the relevant Act (VIC, Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995 – NSW, Home Building Act 1989 – WA, Home Building Contracts Act 1991 – SA, Building Work Contractors Act 1995 – QLD, Queensland Building and Construction Act 1991 – ACT, Building Act 2004)  requires AJ Grant Building to enter into a domestic or residential building contract with you to repair your home, including the repairs under your insurance policy.  This is because the domestic or residential building contract can only be entered between a registered builder, AJ Grant Building, and a homeowner, you, and not an insurance company.

It is important to note, your insurance company will pay AJ Grant Building to complete the insurance repairs on your home under your insurance policy, including any approved variations to the scope of works.

Please review, sign and return to AJ Grant Building.
