WEATHER ALERT – MINOR TO MAJOR FLOOD WARNING WEST NSW & SOUTHERN QLD


SES & BOM has released Major flood warnings for Western NSW and Southern QLD.

HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for parts of the Central West Slopes and Plains from this morning, continuing into the afternoon. Isolated six-hourly rainfall totals between 60 to 70 mm are possible. Flood Warnings and a Flood Watch is current for various catchments across New South Wales.

The Bureau has called out there is increased risk for embedded storm cells within this cold front that is moving across the country West to East and at time of writing pushing across inland NSW and Southeast QLD.

Locations which may be affected include Dubbo, Parkes, Wellington, Coonamble, Gilgandra, and Peak Hill.

  • Orara River – minor flooding
  • Bellinger and Kalang Rivers – minor flooding
  • Nambucca River – minor flooding
  • Macleay River – minor flooding
  • Colo River – minor flooding
  • Upper Macintyre River – minor flooding
  • Gwydir River – minor to moderate flooding
  • Peel River – minor to moderate flooding
  • Namoi River – minor to major flooding
  • Castlereagh River – minor to moderate flooding
  • Macquarie River to Bathurst – minor flooding
  • Orange, Molong and Bell River – minor flooding
  • Turon and Macquarie Rivers to Burrendong Dam
  • Macquarie River d/s Burrendong Dam – minor to major flooding
  • Bogan River – minor flooding
  • Lachlan River to Cotton’s Weir – minor to major flooding
  • Belubula River – minor to moderate flooding
  • Mandagery Creek – minor flooding
  • Mirrool Creek – minor flooding
  • Wollombi Brook and Lower Hunter River – minor to moderate flooding

  • Moderate Flood Warning for the Balonne and Bokhara Rivers
  • Minor Flood Warning for the Barcoo River
  • Minor Flood Warning for the Bulloo River
  • Minor Flood Warning for the Macintyre River
  • Minor Flood Warning for the Moonie River
  • Minor Flood Warning for the Paroo River (QLD)
  • Minor Flood Warning for the Warrego River (QLD)
